The Schoolhouse Children’s Museum & Learning Center influences the lives of thousands of children each year. In order to meet the needs of our community and the visitors we serve, we rely on a core group of volunteers and employees – our greatest assets!
If you are looking for a fast paced and challenging, yet rewarding position in a nonprofit setting, then you have come to the right place. Our mission is to help the children of our community “learn through adventure.” We are committed to ensuring that our people, programs and services reflect the diversity of our visitors.
The Schoolhouse Children’s Museum Volunteer Program provides support to the museum by embracing the values of: Service, Respect and Teamwork. Volunteers represent the museum to the public with enthusiasm and warmth, lending expertise in many aspects.
Volunteer positions are open to all individuals who meet the qualifications established for each of the following categories:
Teaching Aide:
This position requires working with the classroom teacher and children
· Responsible for assisting educator with programming needs
· Assisting with classroom set-up
· Distributing supplies for crafts
· Working directly with children in classroom
· Assisting with group visits/school field trips
Front Desk:
This position requires working with the front desk staff
· Keeping retail merchandise organized
· Answering the telephone
· Schoolhouse Greeter
· Assisting front desk staff in check in for classes
Floor Support:
This position requires working with the guest services manager
· Responsible for prop set-up
· Notifying manager when exhibits are not in working order
· Assisting with Birthday Party’s
· Helping to organize closets, storage areas
In addition, the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum hosts many special events throughout the year and will always be in need of additional volunteers to assist in making our events successful.
