Part-Time Preschool Teacher/Museum Educator

You are the ideal candidate if you:
Approach challenges with a positive attitude. You have previous experience with pre-school and
early elementary school children. Understand that a child’s job is to play, play can messy and
cleaning-up is just part of the job.  You are passionate about literacy and art for children.
Understand that the Museum is a small business and you will be cross-trained in other areas.  Are
willing work periodic weekend(s).
 
The position is Part-Time, approximately 24 hours per week and requires reliable transportation.
 
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to follow, create and/or develop curriculum for in house, outreach and focus field trips as assigned in conjunction with Program Manager
Teaches classes, outreach and focus field trips as scheduled
Track program attendance and contribute to monthly report on education activities.
Plans education calendar in conjunction with Project Manager
Maintain exhibit floor upkeep and positive visitor interaction
Facilitates guest experience and learning through questions, exploration and play
Assists with special events and fundraisers.
 
Skills:
Experience in a customer service environment required.
 
 
Minimum of 1 year, full time, experience working with pre-school and elementary age children.
STEAM/science teaching background is a plus
Ability to interact positively with children, parents and coworkers
Experience creating lesson plans and curriculum, incorporating State Standards.
Ability to use independent judgment in addressing issues, setting work priorities, and handling multiple tasks.
Ability to maintain professionalism and use independent judgment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer proficiency
Proficiency with social media
Outgoing and self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
Associates Degree or equivalent experience required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Museum experience a plus. Teacher Certification/CDA a plus.
Must pass level 2 background check
 
Working Conditions:
Varied including office, interactive classroom and front desk
Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stretch, and reach to perform necessary functions
Attending outreach programs/events outside the Museum setting

Development Assistant

The position is Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week, $13 - $15 / hour
 
Essential Job Functions:
• Manages membership database, record-keeping, reporting and other administrative tasks.
• Compile photo archive and discard unusable photos.
• Maintain photo release file.
• Provides marketing firm with requested information on a timely basis
• Maintains integrity of membership database.
• Ensures new members and contacts are entered into Mailchimp (or other e-mail software) on a timely basis.
• Processes membership renewal mailings 30 days prior to expiration and 30 days after membership lapse.
• Processes new and renewal memberships and membership cards.
• Assists with Development activities including appeals and community events
• Assists with compilation of information for annual report.
• Ensures annual update of donor board(s)
• Maintains Museum & Boynton Cultural Centre, Inc’s Website content.
• Ensures timely social media postings related to education, special events & Museum operations.
• Works with Director and staff in coordination of special events including, but not limited to: Sponsor solicitation, Auction solicitation, logistics, Vendor contact, selection and management.
• Assists Executive Director with Board and committee preparation and activities including those related to special events and fundraisers.
• Safeguards all confidential information regarding the museum, staff, donors, membership and volunteers.
• Fills in at front desk when necessary
• Resets, cleans and sanitizes as part of the Museum team.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the goals and objectives of the Museum as assigned by the Executive Director.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Able to be self-directed, dependable, team player with minimal supervision, in a flexible environment.
• Ability to use independent judgment in addressing issues, setting work priorities, and handling multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, while being detail-oriented throughout.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations and use independent judgment.
• Ability to think strategically
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Solid computer skills with software such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation, publishing, adobe creative suite and email/calendars; Microsoft Office programs proficient.
• Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Membership organization and/or fundraising experience a plus.
